GSMGuy Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Hmm, had car a week, all ok - it's a 2002 TDi 115 Zetec Auto. Last night, after visiting relatives, noticed a promounced jerk when slotting into Drive, and then the change from 1st to 2nd was very sharp and jerk, likewise the rest of the changes, AND it would not go into 5th... Even using the Tiptronic, it was still snatchy and no 5th... So limped home (10miles) @ 40mph... This morning, all seems fine?? No messages or fault lights... (there were none last night either) So, do I wait and see if it happens again? Or get in touch with the (independant, but Vreputable) dealer? Also - Does anyone know where I can get the required lead and software to connect to the OBD?? Cheers Mike Quote

GSMGuy Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Hmm.... Typical, the postie called today with my VAG-COM lead but we were out... And wouldn't you know it - went out tonight in the car, and after about 5 miles, started getting the "ENGINE! WORKSHOP" message and the flashing glowplug light.. Not noticed any probs, ut think it is linked to the 'box, as it goes away if I restart, and only appears when I put it into D and pull away... Anyone got an thoughts? Also, if (as last time) there are no symtoms tomorrow when I et my lead from the PO, will it still be logged as a fault when I read the codes with VAG-COM? Mike Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Check your brake lights are working. Failed brake lamps cause the orange coil warning lamp to light up and can confuse the ECUs' (computers). Quote
GSMGuy Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Just been out to check and all ok - But... How do failed brake lights cause the glowplug lamp to flash??? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 One of life's little mysteries, but they do! Quote
GSMGuy Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Weird! So do you think it'll tell me anything when I "plug her in?" Mike Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Maybe it'll tell you that you've chipped it to 143bhp and you should remove the modified chip ASAP! Quote
GSMGuy Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Lol - nah, I think it's a 'box problem - seems to be not so smooth changing from 2nd to 3rd of late.. Will all be revealed tomorrow... Hopefully Mike Quote
GSMGuy Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Hmm.. Just been out to double check b4 going to bed... Blinking freezing out there!! Anyway, no faults shown on the display - BUT when pressing the brake pedal, the first dozen or so times... the lights didn't come on! Wonder if the switch is sticking when cold?? Mike Quote
